A gallon of horseshoe crab blood is worth $60,000/gallon. Insulin, the lifeblood of diabetics, is valued somewhere around $9,400-per-gallon. When measured by cost-per-gallon, however, nothing compares to scorpion venom.

Scorpion venom is worth a whopping $39,000,000 per gallon. Second on this planet is King Cobra Venom at $153,000/gallon and that should give you an inkling of what makes scorpion venom so damn expensive. I’ve only encountered two scorpions in the wild in my lifetime. I live in Florida and they aren’t super common here. But I’m pretty sure I’d have paid a little more attention had I known that scorpion venom was worth a goddamn $39 million/gallon.

இந்த நிலையில் கடந்தவாரம் சென்னையைச் சேர்ந்த சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகள் 3 பேர் வனத்துறை ஓட்டுநருடன் காலையில் தெப்பக்காடு ரிஷப்சனிலிருந்து ஜீப்பில் கிளம்பினர். அடர் வனப்பகுதியான சேண்ட் ரோடு அருகே இவர்கள் ஜீப் செல்கையில் சற்றும் எதிர்பாராத வகையில் சாலையில் நேர் எதிரே புலி ஒன்று இவர்களை நோக்கி வந்தது.

உடனே சுதாரித்துக்கொண்ட ஓட்டுநர் வாகனத்தை நிறுத்தி அனைவரையும் அமைதியாக இருக்கச் செய்தார். மெல்ல நடந்துவந்த புலி இவர்களின் வாகனத்துக்கு மிக அருகில் வந்துவிட்டது. பின் இருக்கையில் இருந்த சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகள் அமைதியாகக் குனிந்துகொண்டனர். திறந்தநிலை ஜீப் என்பதால் மிகுந்த அச்ச உணர்விலேயே இருந்தனர்.

ஜீப்பின் மிக அருகில் புலி வந்தும் மெதுவாக பின்னோக்கி இயக்கினார். சிறிது தூரம் வந்த புலி சாலையிலிருந்து இறங்கி புதருக்குள் சென்றுவிட்டது.

திறந்தநிலை ஜீப்பில் மிக அருகில் புலியின் நடமாட்டத்தைப் பார்த்த சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகள் உறைந்துபோயினர். அதிர்ச்சியிலும் பின்புறம் அமர்ந்திருந்த சுற்றுலாப் பயணி தனது செல்போனில் வீடியோவும் எடுத்துள்ளனர்.

வனத்துறையினர் கூறுகையில், ``வழக்கமாக சாண்ட்ரோடு வனப் பகுதியில் அடிக்கடி புலிகள் காட்சியளித்து வருகின்றன. இந்தப் புலி கடந்த மூன்று தினங்களாக இதே பகுதியில் அடிக்கடி காட்சி அளித்து வருகிறது. இந்த வழியாக வரும் சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகள் இந்தப் புலியின் நடமாட்டத்தைப் பார்த்துள்ளனர்" என்றனர்.
